Real Silk Lofts The Real Silk Hosiery Mills in Indianapolis was the largest shipper of COD parcel post packages. It was founded by brothers Jack and Lazure Goodwin in 1922. They were very successful and were one of the three biggest manufacturing units in the industry.

The stock market collapse depressed Real Silk's market and the company had extreme loss due to the price of raw silk plummeting and ended up owing a considerable amount to a couple of lenders. Gustave Efroymson, former president of H.P. Wasson Co. Indianapolis was approached to assist in turning the company around, and in 1934 the company was on a comeback...

Bedroom Options:
Most units in the building are 1 bedroom with an open loft that counts as 2nd bedroom downtown because the building is a high-rise with a fire sprinkler system. A small percentage of the units are 1 bedroom and most of these units are on the west side of the building and have downtown skyline views A handful of units are 3 bedroom units Real Silk also includes a separate attached townhouse that shares one of the two common area garages

What's Different About This building:
Most units have a handful of stairs that typically lead to the loft area and/or baths.
As one of the older condo conversions downtown many of the units need updating. The amount and type of updating just varies based on what he current and past owner has previously completed.
Most units only have 1 parking space and some units have none. There is a small first come first serve common parking lot by the front door and there is free parking on Park and North Ave. (Note as you might expect finding parking after 5:oo PM Thursday through Saturday evenings can be very tough.)

Parking
Typical parking per unit is 1 space either a garage space or an outside space. Some units have no deeded parking spaces. There are a handful of units that have two tandem parking spaces (heal to toe) in the outside parking lot. There is also a small 1st come 1st serve parking lot by the front door.

Amenities:
Most units have a 3 season's room where 1/2 of the large wall of windows opens that converts this space when the weather is nice to a balcony. No Grills are allowed to be used on these areas
The building is the only Condo development downtown to have it's own Lap Pool, Sauna, and Whirlpool. There is also a small exercise room and a nice 2nd floor party room that overlooks the pool and can be reserved for private parties. There are also two restrooms that serve the pool and party room.
